I  got the idea to use the features on Google Calendar to give myself fun little assignments to do throughout the year. I'll be receiving semi-weekly e-mail "reminders" of "events" such as "read a poem today" or "go browse at a bookstore this week," or "go listen to at least one song on headphones" I'll probably be adding more as the year goes on - we'll see. If you want to use my calendar for ideas, click the picture, or go here utopiaparkway.blogspot.com/2007/01/year-of-lovely-things-to-do.html for the link. Enjoy!

Just checking out the blog feature on lov.li, and thought I'd post something arty/crafty related. Like a picture of the skirt I just made for Sophie out of a Martha Stewart sheet I bought for a dollar or so over at the Hollywood Value Village. Sweet! It was my first foray into the world of sewing on a machine, and possibly my last for quite some time. All did not go smoothly - machine mishaps plus math mishaps. The cuteness, however, makes up for the frustration. I think I'll be doing any sewing that needs to be done by hand for now rather than rely on the kindness of friends-with-sewing-machines-and-the-ability-to-operate-them. All you sewers: my respect for you, which was already at a rather high level, is now even higher.
